Calling all hockey fans!!!
Please join the Leaside U22 Elite Wildcats hockey team as it welcomes the community to its home at the Leaside Memorial Community Gardens on Saturday November 25th to celebrate the great game of hockey with a “Saturday Night Lights” tilt against the #2 nationally ranked Burlington U22 Elite Barracudas.
The game, coupled with the team’s associated food drive, promises to entertain, and will highlight the amazing athletes of the U22 Elite Wildcats squad and of the broader Ontario Women’s Hockey Association (OWHA) U22 Elite League in which the team participates - the highest-level female minor hockey league in the world which feeds university (NCAA, USport) and professional leagues around the world.
Be sure to bring a non-perishable food item to help the team in its fight against hunger in the community in support of the Daily Bread Food Bank. Also be sure to wear your Leaside Wildcats attire and bring your loudest cheers to root the team on to victory. For those younger Wildcats in the TLGHA aspiring to one day don the Junior crest be sure to come out to support your Leaside Wildcats with handmade signs and noise makers that let the girls know you’re behind them all the way!
This is the first of two “Saturday Night Lights” events scheduled for this year which hope to unite the community around elite female hockey. The next will take place on December 16th with the Leaside U22 Elite Wildcats taking on the Toronto U22 Elite Aeros. In addition to the Saturday Night Lights events, the team plays regularly at the Leaside Memorial Community Gardens on Saturdays and Sundays (see full remaining home schedule below) and welcomes you to come out and support the team.
