November 1, 2023

The Leaside U22 Elite Junior Wildcats are excited to announce Head Coach Michelle Janus will be on the bench with Ontario Team Red as an Assistant Coach at the 2023 Women’s U18 National Championships in Dawson Creek, British Columbia November 5-11, 2023. “It’s a privilege to be part of Team Red with this group of coaches and staff. There are a lot of great hockey minds who I am eager to work with. This will be a great experience and I am excited to bring some of the knowledge and experience gained at this event back to our club team to share with our players and staff in Leaside.” Coach Janus has been involved with the OWHA High Performance Program since 2014, where she was an Assistant Coach for Team Green at the Ontario Winter Games. Janus was then Head Coach for Team Yellow at the 2022 Ontario Summer games in Mississauga. Coach Janus was also at the 2022 U18 Selection Camp for the Canada Winter Games last October and the selection camp in July of 2023 for the U18 Championships in Dawson Creek, BC.

During her time in Alberta, Janus was a coach at the Alberta U16 Challenge Cup in Red Deer, AB. Where she was an Assistant Coach with Team Green. “We had a great coaching staff and a fun group of players with Team Green. It’s always a refreshing experience to have the opportunity to work with the top players in the province, at any age group. The pace of the game is higher and the ability to teach the game at the highest levels is rewarding for me.” Team Red and Team Blue both leave for Dawson Creek BC Friday November 3rd and will return from the games November 12th. Good luck to Coach Janus and Team Red at the U18 National Championships!
