The Leaside U22 Elite Wildcats have officially secured their spot in the round of sixteen, clinching a playoff berth for the second consecutive year. After a bounce back year in 23/24 the team continues to grow.
Their latest victory on Saturday showcased stellar goaltending from Isabella Lane (#88), especially in the first, she ended the game with a shutout to backstop the team to a crucial win.
Leaside’s defensive unit played a key role with 7 points from 5 defenders. Brooklyn Vito (#66) delivering an outstanding offensive performance, tallying two goals and an assist. Forwards Shapira, Meyers and Givelas each tallied a goal and an assist.
With a few games remaining, playoff matchups remain uncertain, as teams continue to battle for positioning. Outside of the top contenders, several squads are still in the mix, making the final stretch of the regular season highly competitive.
"I think this speaks to the growing parity in the U22 Elite division," said one close observer. "It's exciting when everything comes down to the last few weeks. There are a lot of strong teams and talented players."
As the postseason approaches, all eyes are on what promises to be a thrilling championship weekend and provincial tournament in March.
