The Leaside U22 Elite Wildcats are excited to be a big part of the 50th anniversary of girls hockey in Leasdie. On Saturday, the 30th of September at 7:30 pm the Leaside Elite U22 take on the Mississauga Junior Hurricanes. Come out and cheer for our Elite team.
The Next day, Ocober 1st. from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm - Our Leaside U22 Elite Junior Wildcats will unveil their new locker room with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 am, followed by hourly tours led by Junior players.
This season marks the 50th season of girls hockey in Leaside We invite our Toronto Leaside Girls Hockey Association (TLGHA) members and the entire Leaside community to join our celebration with events planned for our players, volunteers, coaches, and alums all season long.
We’ll kick this special season off with a celebration weekend on September 30th and October 1st at Leaside Memorial Community Gardens.
50 Seasons Kick-Off Weekend
Evening of Saturday, September 30th:
6:30pm - Alum Shinny Game followed by Pub Night at Leaside Pub.
7:30pm - Leaside U22 Elite Junior Wildcats Game.
Sunday, October 1st:
7:30am - 3:00pm - Support our House League and Competitive teams playing throughout the day on both rinks
10:00am - 3:00pm - Participate in the CCM Shooting Challenge being held in the arena foyer
10:00am - 3:00pm - Stop by the William Lea Room to get more information on the Toronto Leaside Wildcats, Hockey Diversity and buy a 50th Season t-shirt
11:00am - 3:00pm - Enjoy the food trucks outside of the arena entrance. Proceeds will be going to Hockey Diversity
11:30am - 3:00pm - The Leaside U22 Elite Junior Wildcats team will unveil their new locker room with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30am, followed by hourly tours led by Junior players
12:00pm - 1:30pm - Meet and greet two former Wildcats Kristin Della Rovere (former Junior Wildcat, Harvard captain and recently drafted to PWHL Ottawa) and Emma Buckles (former Wildcat, Harvard captain and recently drafted to PWHL Boston). Don’t miss this chance to get autographs and photos with these amazing athletes!
About the Leaside Elite 22 Program
The Toronto Leaside Girls Hockey Association (TLGHA), one of the largest female hockey associations in the world, has a long history of making the great game of hockey available to young female athletes. Its U22 Elite program represents its pinnacle and since its inaugural season in 2014 has supported hundreds of elite athletes in reaching their potential, on and off the ice. The program boasts a roster of more 70+ players who have gone on to compete for championships at the USport and NCAA level, and a number of high finishes in league play over its history. This year represents the TLGHA’s 50th anniversary and a renewed focus on restoring the program to its place at the top of elite female junior hockey.
