Another Successful Showcase Weekend: Leaside U22 Elite goes 2-2-1 at USA-Canada Cup in Detroit

Hannah Parent - #43 Leaside U22 Wildcats

It was a great weekend for the Leaside U22 Elite Wildcats for the USA-Canada Cup in Detroit this past weekend where they finished 11th out of 22 teams following some terrific performances against some of the top ranked teams in the U.S. under the watchful eye of the many university scouts in attendance.

It was a great team effort with 11 different players contributing on the scoresheet and the goalies (Sarah Lynn-Gauthier and Sara Da Silva) ringing up a team GAA of 2.00.

The team started with a gritty 2-1 win against Detroit Honeybaked 19U and followed that up a solid 3-0 win versus St. Louis Lady Blues 19U. A back-and-forth game versus Detroit Belle Tire 19U ended in a 1-1 tie after a highlight reel goal in the third period by Leaside’s Siena Harris.

The team’s final two games were against two top-10 U.S. ranked teams - #3 Chicago Mission 19U and #7 Detroit Little Caesars 19U. The team battled hard and played well against Chicago Mission in a 4-0 loss, holding them scoreless in a hard-fought 3rd period. Against Detroit Little Caesars the team showed no quit in a 4-2 loss.
